Applicants should meet all of the following criteria:

1. The group conducts programs to address special circumstances outside the realms of the common interactions between humans and animals.
2. The primary or sole aim of the group is to support, assist, encourage or develop the relationship between humans and companion animals; or operating through the mechanism of human-animal interaction the activities of the group are beneficial therapeutically, physically or emotionally, to either humans or animals, and preferably beneficial to both.
3. The activities of the group are in no way detrimental to any human or any animal.
4. The activities of the group involve programs centered around close contact between humans and companion animals; or involve quality research into the relationship between humans and companion animals.

The final content of the directory is determined by the Editorial Committee.

Preference will be given to not-for-profit activities.

The Australian Companion Animal Council reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to exclude any participants in the Australian Directory of Human Animal Interaction from future editions of the publication.
