Real Animals Pets and People is a consultancy which aims to address gaps in support services within the aged, disability and community based sectors for the companion animals of the elderly and disabled living at home. With independant living and increasing social isolation, among other things, older and disabled people have a special dependancy on their pets. Recognizing the health, social and economic benefits which flow from the human-animal bond and actively supporting this relationship is an essential part of overall aged and disability service delivery.

Real Animals facilitates this in three principal ways:

Statewide research into the need for pet support programs for the elderly and disabled living at home.

Advice on pet support program design and development.

Raising awareness of the need for pet support programs as an integrated part of overall service delivery to the aged and disabled living at home.
