Velma’s Pets As Therapy

We offer two types of ‘pets as therapy’ services:

1. We offer a ‘pets as therapy’ correspondence course. This course is for people intending to become a ‘pets as therapy’ volunteer in their own location; and a course for health care workers wanting to start, monitor and manage a ‘pets as therapy’ program. We have national and international students and graduates.
2. We provide trained ‘pets as therapy’ volunteers to visit health care facilities, groups and individuals, for the purpose of bringing safe and beneficial physical, mental and social stimulation, physiotherapy, reminiscence, fun and laughter. Our volunteers are highly skilled and trained to respond to individual needs even in a group situation. We have been operating since April 1999 and our program consistently promotes many benefits to the people we visit.
